My husband and I like to eat natural and organic as much as possible to strengthen and steward our bodies. A couple of ways we do this is by omitting processed foods containing unhealthy additives and produce that has been grown with conventional pesticides. Sadly, eating organic can be pricey, but we really enjoy finding companies that are making natural and organic foods available at a lower cost!

I am so excited to share with you about an innovative and heroic company that is revolutionizing how we can purchase organic produce up to 40% less than grocery store prices + have it delivered to our doorstep! Here's to nourishing our bodies in a more practical and budget-friendly way! :)

Misfits Market

Misfits Market is striving to make it possible for people to have organic fruits and vegetables available to them at a more reasonable and sustainable cost. They are also rescuing excess produce that otherwise may have been thrown away— reducing food waste! Some fruits or veggies they save are shaped a bit differently, not fitting the cookie-cutter cosmetic standards of bigger grocers, but are perfectly edible and enjoyable. It's so much fun to have a colorful box of clean fruits and veggies that have been hand-picked and shipped straight to our home. I count-down to the deliveries!

We have been inspired to try new vegetables and cook new recipes which has been fun! They have lots of recipes on their blog which is a helpful resource. Our produce picks for this week are: white cauliflower, butternut squash, red radishes, Yukon potatoes, small red potatoes, yellow peaches, large yellow onion, small Valencia oranges, romaine lettuce, jicama, green cabbage, red beets, Granny Smith apples, and limes!

Misfits produce offerings change seasonally, and this allows our bodies to benefit from greater nutrient diversity. For example, tomatoes, which are in season during the summer have a component called lycopene that helps "prevent UV damage from sunburn" (Eat Pretty, Live Well). Whereas, carrots, in season during the winter, boost our immunity to help us fight sickness (Eat Pretty, Live Well, Healthline).

Misfits Market currently delivers to Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, Ohio, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. You can join their waitlist if your area is not listed above. They are continuing to grow and expand to more areas! You also can choose whether you'd like a weekly or bi-weekly delivery and can skip a shipment when needed.

Having foods delivered to your doorstep can help decrease the amount of energy you are spending at the grocery store and can preserve your energy reserves for meal prepping. I find myself more energized and motivated to meal prep when I am able to open our box of produce and begin prepping right away— rather than returning from the grocery store, unloading all that I have purchased, and needing some time to recharge from the errand.

I invite you to think of each dollar you spend as an investment in your quality of life. The produce you provide yourself or your family with that minimizes pesticides and avoids harmful chemicals is helping to prevent devastating diseases and increase well-being!

A new study shows that eating organic can reduce pesticides in your body by 70%! Check out the video below for more information!
